The YUGSA has permanent staff in order to provide the executive with assistance in taking care of the day-to-day operations and to provide our student organization with institutional memory. We hire additional staff on contract positions at the time of elections, for the designing of our handbooks, and other business.
Student Services Coordinator

As the Student Services Coordinator, Sam is responsible for both the day-to-day operations of the YUGSA office and for providing individual advocacy support to York University’s Graduate Student Community. If you aren’t sure where to access support for any issue, whether it is academic or not, please feel welcome to contact Sam.
Sam is also tasked with booking space requests, processing the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), administering the Emergency Loan Fund (ELF), assisting with printing & photocopying services for our membership as well as answering in-person, email and telephone inquiries.
Finance and Health Plan Coordinator
Farhat is responsible for the YUGSA’s financial bookkeeping as well as the administration of the health plan for graduate students. As the Finance Coordinator, Farhat manages audits, budget and expense reports, payroll, processing and filing of funding requests, banking needs and more. She is also your primary contact for the health plan for questions and issues regarding benefits and claims, opting in of dependents and partners, or opting out for CUPE 3903 unit 1 and 3 members (TAs & GAs).
