What is this meeting about? YUGSA has confirmed a meeting with Lisa Philipps (Interim Vice-President Academic & Provost), Fahim Quadir and Mario Verrilli (Interim Dean and Executive Officer of FGS, respectively), Joy Kirchner (Dean of Libraries), and Lucy Fromowitz (Vice-Provost Students), to discuss the printing credit cut.
This is an important meeting to attend because the Provost has power over York’s budget. If the university administration cut our printing credit they will also cut other services. We’ve been doing research on York’s budget to prove that they can afford our printing credit. We will present our petition signatures, give testimonials about our need for printing, and ask where the money went that was previously allocated for our printing.
York administration has previously said that YUGSA agreed to this cut but this is false and misleading. YUGSA has always called for the full and permanent restoration of the printing credit. Read our previous update here.
This may be our last chance to speak up and demand that York restore our credit!
To date, we have over 1000 signatures (print and online) on our petition to restore the printing credit. Sign the online petition.
We are also asking for student testimonials! Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to speak at the meeting.
