Statement from YUGSA on the death of a graduate student

Dear Members:

We have learned that a graduate student was struck by a vehicle last night near Sentinel and Assiniboine on the Keele Campus, and sadly she passed away hours after the accident. At this time we do not know the identity of the student, but we will share more information once it is made available.

On behalf of the York University Graduate Students’ Association (YUGSA), we want to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim, and encourage anyone who witnessed the collision to contact investigators (416-808-1900).

We also encourage any member who is experiencing emotional distress or in need of support to contact the Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR), located at W128 Bennett Centre. The contact info for the OSCR office is noted below. The YUGSA office is also ready to offer any support or accommodation that students might need at this time. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

With caring thoughts,

The YUGSA Executive Committee
