This past January, the Ontario government announced changes to post-secondary education that will gravely affect access to OSAP and impose changes to ancillary fees which threaten students’ unions. In response, students across Ontario are gearing up for a provincial day of action on Wednesday, March 20! Join us as thousands of students walk out of classes and protest the changes to OSAP and the Student Choice Initiative. Together, we can fight to win!
Join the YFS for a FREE pancake breakfast in Vari Hall at 10:00 am, and then join the rally at 12:00 pm.
WHAT IS A WALKOUT?
A form of protest in which students, workers and/or community members collectively leave a place such as a school, workplace or space. The walk out can be spontaneous or planned in advance and may be followed by a rally, picket, blockade or other action.
WHY DO A WALKOUT?
To demonstrate widespread disapproval, dissatisfaction or frustration by emptying a school, workplace or space. It can be a reflection of frustration over institutional or government policy or in protest of a speaker or contents of a particular speech.
